Love it. For me, it's all about these two statements:

"More than feeling burned out by these solutions, consumers will fear opting out of them." and

"Even the industry’s harshest critics are impervious to its pull..."

As an aging 46-year-old who has remained steadfast in resisting the pressures of Botox/ filler/ procedures/ surgery (makes it easier when you are an independent contractor with very limited disposable income) and who has gone from a ten-step skincare regimen to a two-step (largely in part to this newsletter), but who still tints her eyebrows, wears mascara and lip stain and has her hair professionally colored, I recognize the fear that comes up when I consider opting out even more than I am already, which feels significant, compared to my peers.

I wish we'd hear more from people who opt out: the financial necessity, the soul-searching involved, the motivations behind their areas of hold-out and the sacrifices involved in maintaining these practices, the real and perceived backlash, the courage involved to have integrity to their principles at the risk of being treated differently. The loneliness. Opting out of the beauty industry feels revolutionary at this point.
