Kimia also plagiarized one of my newsletters, so I’m not surprised at all by this and it’s all very, very disappointing. She JUST changed the parts she plagiarized from me in her newsletter this morning ( I still have the screenshots of the plagiarism) I’m glad she changed it, I’ll take it as an admission of guilt AND I wish none of this ever happened to any of us.

That this has happened more than once is unconscionable. I would forgive someone plagiarizing once- but twice (and probably more times). Whew. I am glad you have receipts and it is so upsetting that this happened to you.

Thank you, Anastasia. It is def a pattern with her at this point and I can’t even begin to imagine how many more people it’s happened to. I’m glad I have the receipts too! Screenshots are forever.

I’m glad this finally came to light.

This is such a pity. I read both and found Kimia’s essay very original insofar as its core premise of rejecting a cultural ideal, which is a really valuable perspective. The carelessness and lack of citation is a real shame and I hate to think how this statement will impact the career of such a promising diasporic voice.

Jessica you are the one person I want to read about Marina Abramovic's proposed skincare line, is there any chance you're going to cover it in a future post?

From The Conversation: "Marina Abramović has launched a skincare brand – and it doesn’t seem to be satire"

Me: NOOOOO!

I agree, as soon as I saw it I was like , YES, Jessica needs to cover it. I think I may have even wrote her.

Good job protecting yourself. Although older, the reference article had some very interesting nuances.

I am so disappointed and sorry to read this essay was plagiarized. Kimia has been writing so beautifully about being an Iranian-American, that's such a pity.

Thank you for your integrity! I hope Kimia chooses to adopt your good practice if they hope to continue this work.

Happens to the best of us, love, which you ARE. Well handled and hope Kimia, to paraphrase Bertie Wooster, reculers and sauters again.

Here is a very interesting book on the subject. It certainly opened my eyes to the topic. Creating Beauty To Cure the Soul: Race and Psychology in the Shaping of Aesthetic Surgery. Sander L Gilman, author. Thank you for the retraction/update!
