I have never experienced compulsion like trichotillomania, but my best friend does. This article made me cry with understanding and compassion for the rituals we do - consciously or unconsciously - to protect ourselves and to help us make sense of the world. I appreciate you and all that you do, Jessica, thank you for sharing Emily's work!

Both beautifully written and gut wrenching. I don't have this illness, gratefully. I find it interesting that the author found so many people in her life with trichotillomania, perhaps it is one symptom of cultural anxiety that is burned into our genetic blueprint.
