Absolutely down with this! I found conversations about beauty a lot less stressful to parse once I started substituting "conventionally attractive" with "commercially valuable" i.e. hot enough to sell things. Not saying this is a perfect definition either but it's been useful to think of being "attractive" as the internal ability to draw people to you and form relationships and being "commercially valuable" as something else entirely external.

Re. attraction: just think of the disparity between so-called ,,perfect” people and people with an actually fulfilling social and romantic life… The two don’t align at all. I think Linda Evangelista said that as long as she was a supermodel, she found it impossible to date - men were either intimidated or downright creepy. Come to think of it, almost that whole gang of supermodels (I love ‘em… Sorry, 😄), is divorced and/or single! And how about Hollywood’s disastrous track record when it comes to love and friendship? ,,Power” derived from beauty comes with a price tag.
