I freaking love you for calling this out. C-section moms receive almost no care post-birth. If you want to go to physical therapy to make sure you can regain your core and pelvic floor function, well you'd better not expect your OB/GYN to help with that. Mine was just like - idk try some planks? Which basically all online resources suggest are really bad for C-section recovery/diastasis recti. Speaking of diastasis recti - the most important symptom according to basically all doctors and webpages is that it can cause you to have a belly pooch. I just did a Google search and the top hit from Cleveland Clinic says "The separation can make a person's belly stick out or bulge months or years postpartum." Then you go to the actual website and it lists other symptoms which include - difficulty lifting objects, walking or performing everyday tasks, pain during sex, pelvic or hip pain, low back pain, poor posture, urine leaking, constipation...but let's focus on that belly bulge!
Anyway, the past week has been so freaking hard. I'm a C-section mom who can't get specialty formula for my preschooler as it's backordered (she has a rare genetic condition and needs it to prevent brain damage), not to mention a G-D pediatric vaccine to protect her in the middle of another massive pandemic surge (in which society as a whole has decided to just pretend it's just not happening). BUT AT LEAST I'M ALLOWED TO BE HOT!
Dear Sports Illustrated, talk to me when you have a model With a scar and saggy skin and stretch marks and you call her beautiful. Until then…just don’t. Sincerely, an angry, over-educated, single mom, with a cat, who isn’t on dating apps because eff guys these days, but who is actually happy with all of that.
Even as I sit here cheering you on reading this brilliant post, I am simultaneously in a group chat discussing the best Botox and fillers. Its like I know you're so right, yet I don't want to be left behind as the ugly aging one. The cognitive dissonance required to be me (us) is staggering. I will keep trying though. Thanks for all you do.
I feel that. I think all of us (myself included) do this to some degree! My goal isn't to make everyone give up every beauty habit they have — it's just to make people think about their beauty habits, which you're clearly doing :) That's enough sometimes!!
YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS: "So many will see this and feel like it’s progress, like 'MOMS ARE HOT' is some important step forward. Meanwhile, the government is saying 'MOMS SHOULD DIE' and 'THEIR BABIES SHOULD TOO.'"

Yes! Thank you for being so open about this. I’ll be 50 in a few months and I’m feeling this. I’m still using tretinoin. I know! I know!
