I love your work! Just curious. What do you think of Charlotte Palermino? She heavily promotes slugging and posted a very defensive tik tok the other day. Wonder if she reads your work!
Thank you! I personally don't follow her work with any sort of frequency. I think it is important to keep in mind that she is not an unbiased influencer, but a literal beauty industry executive. If you were to look at the information she shares vs. her financial and social interests from a journalism perspective, there would be very clear conflicts of interest there and her views would not pass reporting standards. (Not that she's a reporter, nor does she claim to be, but still, this is the perspective I like to apply to influencers and industry entrepreneurs across the board, including dermatologists who have started their own skincare lines, partner with brands and Pharma corporations, etc. This is also why I like to gather a ton of perspectives when I'm deep-diving a particular beauty subject — brand founders, influencers, derms, chemists, biologists, psychologists, nutritionists, environmentalists, people OUTSIDE of the industry. Bias isn't always conscious. In fact, it's often unconscious. But it's still there, which is why none of these types of conflicts of interest are allowed to fly in reporting!)
I doubt I'll ever get tired of saying this about your work: Brilliant. xo
I doubt I'll ever get tired of hearing it!!!
