Have you read How to do Nothing by Jenny Odell? I had to look at it when, last Sunday at 6:30pm, I found out that my 3 kids would not be going to school the following morning. I HAVE SO MANY RESOLUTIONS TO ACCOMPLISH!!! Was replaced with the instant re-centering joy of IF I PAY ATTENTION, EVERYTHING IS WONDROUS. I don't need busyness and productivity to define my self worth; I need only to be quiet and focus on what's happening in front of me. Nothing I could buy or achieve would replace the delight in paying attention. Thank you for the sanity as always :)

Soooo aggravating and sad to read how Hudson (and so many others!) have conflated our need for slowness and presence with a need to buy things. Like, this is mindfulness? You can legit sit on the floor or lay down for ten minutes and do a body scan and experience the same (or more) benefits. And also, putting stuff on your skin in the hopes that it will stay a certain way is not self-care but aggression! Thank you for being a voice of reason.

I do wonder when I got programmed to think that rituals needed to involve products! This made me think of when I moved to Australia at the age of 11, back in my home country, you didn't need any products or other luxuries to feel happy and content. A bit to dissect here on my end!

So well written, really love everything I read on here. Thank you Jessica - you have truly pulled me out of my misery I didn't even know I was in!!!

Loved every word of this. Thank you. Keeping this post in my inbox so I can read it again and again. (This one really hit home for me!) Also, I couldn't resist clicking the link to the Secure Attachment Serum and read the description... "developed with mental health experts"???? WTF WHY?!!

That quote about doing things reminded me of Kylie Jenner saying "This is the year of realizing stuff"
